Friends is an American sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004. The series revolves around a group of friends in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The series was produced by Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. The original executive producers were Crane, Kauffman, and Kevin S. Bright, with numerous others being promoted in later seasons.Kauffman and Crane began developing Friends under the title Insomnia Cafe in November/December 1993. After several script rewrites and changes, including a second title change to Friends Like Us, the series was finally named Friends and premiered on NBC's coveted Thursday 8:30 pm timeslot. Filming for the series took place at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California in front of a live studio audience. Family Guy Season 3 premiered in July 2001 with its worst time slot yet, Thursdays at 8 p.m. That placed the show in the fall opposite NBC's Friends, which was the most-watched show during the 2001 television season. Family Guy suffered an even sharper ratings decline due to Friends and the breakout success of CBS's reality-competition series Survivor, which aired at the same time. The ratings drop was too much for Fox, which canceled the series once again in 2002.

If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch the full collection on there for free, but it has ads. Also, like someone else mentioned above, you can also watch it on Tubi tv too. Good luck my fellow Columbo lover in India!

Even though I have the DVD set, I tend to watch the 62 episodes I have on DVR (Hallmark Mystery Ch HD) The beauty of it is that that my DVR scrolls up 5 min with one touch of the remote and the Hallmark commercials are exactly 5 min. It really is a thing a beauty. Just finished watching Any Old Port & Suitable for Framing again. Love it.

Hannah Fairchild wakes up one morning to see her room engulfed in flames and smoke, but she quickly realizes this is only a nightmare. Waking up, Hannah begins to type up a letter to her friend, Katie, who's currently away at camp. In her letter, she complains about the boring summer she's been having in Greenwood Falls. Outside her window, Hannah sees a shadowy figure watching her. She dials 911, but the responder can't seem to hear her and hangs up. A rock is thrown through Hannah's window and she decides to head outside. The shadowy figure is nowhere to be found, but she goes bump into a boy she's never seen before. He introduces himself as Danny Anderson and informs her Hannah that he just moved here. Hannah thinks this is strange, as the house his family has moved into still looks empty. The next day, Hannah begins to go about her daily routine alone, as her parents are seemingly away. Hannah attempts to deliver the letter, but the postman, Mr. Chesney seemingly ignores her shouting. On the drive, Mr. Chesney almost hits Danny, who's riding across the street on his bike. Danny begins to act strange, doing such things as seemingly vanishing into thin air. Upon peeking into his home, Hannah sees it is covered in candles, and the stove looks as if it hasn't been used in years. This causes Hannah to believe he could be a ghost haunting the house. Hannah investigates Danny further, running again into the shadowy figure she saw outside her window. She later discovers a newspaper story online detailing a fire in the neighborhood that left no survivors.Hannah believes it could have been Danny's family that died in the fire, and goes to his house. She tries to talk to his mother, but she ignores Hannah, causing her to think his mother might be a ghost as well. Danny arrives at her house and informs her his mother is deaf. Hannah accuses Danny of being a ghost. The two argue, and Danny points out she can't possibly live where she claims, as it is nearly destroyed. Hannah passes straight through Danny.

Hannah tries to talk to Danny, who has begun hanging out with a pair of troublemaking friends, but he wants nothing to do with her. During their talk, a beam nearly falls on Danny, but he is saved by Hannah. Hannah confronts the shadow figure, calling him a liar. He tells her that when Danny dies, he will take his form, and wants to speed up the process.

Hannah realizes that she came back as a ghost to save Danny's life. Later that night, Danny and his friends break into the home of Mr. Chesney, and a fire is started. Danny's friends make it out, but Danny is trapped inside. Hannah enters the house to rescue Danny. She begins playing the piano in Mr. Chesney's house, and the music alerts Chesney that something is wrong. He enters the house and Danny is saved.

Robin returns from a trip to Argentina and Ted must adjust to life as just her friend. Marshall and Lily decide to move out on their own, falling in love with a place they can't afford. Marshall learns of Lily's bad credit rating due to her compulsive shopping. Despite this, they are able to finally secure their dream apartment, only to discover it's in a bad location and more poorly constructed than they thought. Barney is slapped for the third time on Thanksgiving, which Marshall dubs "Slapsgiving." Ted explains how he met all his friends.

Ted tells his children that he met their mother through a story with her yellow umbrella. He finds the umbrella at a club and takes it home after attending a St. Patrick's Day party where his future wife was, although they did not meet. Ted attempts to woo Stella (Sarah Chalke), a dermatologist he sees to remove an embarrassing tattoo. This culminates in a memorable "two-minute date," which incorporates small talk, dinner, a movie, coffee, two cab rides, and a goodnight kiss, all within two minutes. Robin sleeps with Barney after he comforts her following a break-up, which is followed by Ted's disapproval and decision to stop being friends with Barney. Meanwhile, an unknown woman begins to sabotage Barney's attempts to hook up. His saboteur is revealed to be Abby (Britney Spears), Stella's receptionist, with a vendetta against him for not calling her after they had sex.

In the season finale, after Ted and Barney get into separate car accidents and end up in the hospital, they renew their friendship. It is revealed that Barney has true feelings for Robin, while Ted proposes to Stella.

This season only, the theme song alternates between the extended version and an abbreviated version that goes into the chorus after the first two lines. This is not to be confused with the version that is used in syndicated repeats ("You miss your old familiar friends, they're just waiting around the bend").
