Walk-Ons is based on a true story of the 2011 University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners, who became the first team in NCAA history to make it to a bowl game in their first season as a Division I program. The movie follows the journey of four friends, Dave, Mike, Steve, and Eddie, who work at a car factory that is about to close down. Feeling hopeless and bored with their lives, they decide to enroll at UTSA and join the football team as walk-ons, meaning they are not recruited or given scholarships. They also convince their sons, who are already on the team, to join them in their quest to make history.
However, their plan is not as easy as it sounds. They also have to balance their studies, work, and personal issues while trying to keep up with the rigorous demands of the sport. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about teamwork, friendship, family, and self-confidence.
