Pink Cadillac (1989)
A white supremacist group is chasing Lou Ann (Bernadette Peters), whose husband Roy (Timothy Carhart) is a member. She has inadvertently taken counterfeit money from them by running away with his car (the pink Cadillac), which held the supremacists' stash.
Bounty hunter Tommy Nowak (Clint Eastwood) is on the trail of Lou Ann McGuinn (Bernadette Peters), a bail jumper last seen burning rubber in her husband's pink Cadillac. But Tommy isn't the only one searching for Lou Ann. There's also a gang of neo-Nazis who want the counterfeit bills hidden in her car trunk. Although Nowak gets to her first, his assignment becomes a touch more difficult when he starts to fall for Lou Ann -- and her husband, Roy (Timothy Carhart), comes into the picture.
He plays a bounty hunter after a wrongly accused woman who skipped bail in a pink cadillac with a quarter million in counterfeit bills. And it wouldn't be much of a movie unless the bad guys were after the cash too.
This film sees Clint Eastwood playing skip-tracer Tommy Nowak, basically a bounty hunter working to catch those who have skipped bail. His latest target is Lou Ann McGuinn a woman charged with handling counterfeit money. She has gone on the run with her baby in her husband's pink, convertible 1959 Cadillac... not initially realising it has a quarter of a million dollars stashed in it. This means her husband and his white supremacist friends are also after him. Nowak finds her first but the story is far from over; a run in with her husband leaves her baby with the racist gang.Clint Eastwood is mostly associated with spaghetti westerns, Dirty Harry and other similarly tough characters so it is easy to forget that he also took plenty of lighter roles and this is one of those. The story is fun and while there are some action scenes there isn't a real sense of danger for our protagonists; even the racist antagonists are more incompetent than menacing. Clint Eastwood is solid as Nowak and Bernadette Peters is a lot of fun as Lou Ann. Those playing the villains are somewhat less impressive making their characters hard to believe. Geoffrey Lewis, a regular in Eastwood's films of the period, puts in a fun performance as the hippy forger Ricky Z. Overall this might not be a must see but it is fun and has little in the way of offensive material.
Eastwood plays Tommy Nowak, a bounty hunter hired to track and capture people who have skipped out on bail. One of the best in the business, he often fools his quarry by adopting a variety of identities; however, Tommy more than meets his match when he's assigned to trace Lou Ann McGuinn (Bernadette Peters), a young mother whose bumbling, no-good husband (Timothy Carhart) has involved her with a counterfeiting ring run by a white supremacist group. Lou Ann skips town, takes her baby and her husband's beloved vintage pink Cadillac--which, she learns, has $250,000 stashed in it--and heads for her sister's home in Reno, pursued by the white supremacists. Fully intending to bring her back, Tommy instead falls for Lou Ann and ends up helping her retrieve her kidnaped baby and outfox her husband and his racist cronies.
